The Hampton Police Division is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect(s) in connection with a shooting investigation that occurred on April 15, 2017.
At approximately 3:03 a.m., officers responded to the first block of West Chamberlain Avenue in reference to a call received from an individual claiming to have been shot.
Officers responded to the scene and attempted to locate the victim; however, the victim nor a crime scene was able to be located.
The call for service was updated that an adult male had responded to and was currently located at the Hampton Sentara CarePlex Hospital, located in the 3000 block of Coliseum Drive, and was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds that were considered life-threatening.
Officers responded to the hospital and met with the victim, an adult Newport News man, and it was determined that he was the caller/victim from the call for service from the first block of West Chamberlain Avenue.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that while in the first block of West Chamberlain Avenue and within a residence, the victim was shot multiple times. Officers still located in the first block of West Chamberlain Avenue were then able to locate a crime scene.
Motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation. There is no suspect information to disseminate at this time.
