The Hampton Police Division has arrest Thadduas Orlando Hayes, Jr in connection with a double shooting that occurred on April 13, 2017.
At 8:03 p.m., Public Safety Communications received a call in reference to "shots fired" in the area of the 100 block of Bridgeport Cove. While en route officers were updated that there were possibly two victims as a result of the shots being fired.
One of the victims, a 23-year-old Hampton woman was located in the 100 block of Bridgeport Cove, suffering from a single gunshot wound. The other victim, a 22-year-old Newport News man, was located in the first block of Camellia Lane and was also suffering from a single gunshot wound. Both victim's injuries are considered non-life-threatening. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that both victims were together in the 100 block of Bridgeport Cove when the suspect, an unknown black male wearing all dark clothing, began firing in the direction of the two victims.
Thadduas Orlando Hayes, a 19-year-old Hampton man, has been arrested in connection to this incident. He has been charged with one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and one count of Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place. He remains in custody at the Hampton City Jail. This investigation remains on-going.
